What is Psychotherapy?

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy provides a safe and consistent space for children and young people to explore feelings and experiences that may be difficult to understand or put into words.

Psychotherapy is a relational way of working. I pay close attention to both verbal and non-verbal communication and think beneath the surface of emotions, behaviours and relationships to understand what may be happening underneath.

Over time, this can help children and families develop a greater understanding of themselves, their relationships and the difficulties they are experiencing.

What difficulties can Psychotherapy help with?

I help children and adolescents with a wide range of difficulties which may impact on their development, relationships and education.

How long does Psychotherapy last?

Each session is 50 minutes and typically takes place once a week, at the same day and time.

Mental health difficulties affect us all differently. Sometimes, a one-off consultation or a handful of sessions can feel like enough support. At other times, short-term work of up to six months or longer-term work of a year or more may be helpful.

I tailor treatment plans to each individual and regularly review the therapy with you to consider how it is helping and what further support may be needed.

Request a Consultation

I realise that finding the right support for yourself or your child can feel like a big step. I offer a free initial conversation of up to 40 minutes, giving us an opportunity to think about what has brought you to seek support and whether I may be the right person to help.
