Therapy at this age can support children to develop greater emotional understanding, resilience and confidence.
Child Psychotherapy
(5 - 12)
Childhood can often be fun and engaging, though it also marks the start of finding a sense of place outside the family through going to school, or joining clubs. Some children manage these separations and find their feet with friendships, hobbies and new interests, where others feel overwhelmed and full of worry.
Children at this age do not always have the words to express how they are feeling, and may communicate through their behaviour, play or withdrawal. I provide each child with their own therapy box, containing toys and creative materials. Through play, conversation and careful observation, I help children to make sense of their thoughts and feelings, so they are better able to enjoy being a child.
Your child's individual sessions are confidential, which means that what they share with me in their sessions is typically private. I will meet with you regularly to think together about their progress and the broader themes in therapy, helping you to understand and support your child outside of their sessions.
