Therapy at this age can help young people develop a greater understanding of themselves and their relationships as they move towards greater independence.
Adolescent Psychotherapy
(12 - 18)
Adolescence is a time of significant emotional, physical and social change. Young people are navigating greater independence alongside the pressures of school, friendships, relationships, social media and thinking about who they are and where they fit in.
At times this can feel overwhelming, leading a young person to withdraw from others or express their distress through changes in their behaviour or increased risk-taking. I provide teenagers a confidential, non-judgemental space where they can talk about anything on their mind. I take each session at the young person's pace, without pressure to talk about anything they do not feel ready to or able to discuss.
It is important to me that young people feel respected and included in their therapy. What they share with me in their sessions is typically private, and where appropriate I will talk with them about what may be helpful to share with you as their parent or carer.
Where helpful, I can also offer you a separate space to think about your concerns about your teenager without compromising the privacy of their sessions.
